once so fair, now no hair

NO more dreary afternoons
Lazing on the sofa watching cartoons.
Instead, serving army under those pompous goons,
Bound by vocal tunes
And paid mild fortunes
For monthly toil and hassle,
Starting with 2 months with rifle and vassal!
Oh how the officers would cackle
At the lowly recruit
Without rank and honour
-just some mindless pursuit!
But behold what the first 2 weeks have in store.
Not a mindless puppet washed up on shore,
But training with riches galore!
Both for the mind and body alike
Preparing us for that long hike
In which we would defend our country death alike,
And never say die without a fight!
Oh what delight
Shall it be to become a man
On the very grounds which i as a child once ran.
Never will it be the same again
After all the trouble, work, and pain.
The jungle and dirt would be my new home
A fearless soldier the lands shall i roam.
With friends and family i shall miss,
Such feelings are to be gone when i enlist!
Shuddering so suddenly in sheer anxiety,
At what a new environment will be!
A place where rules and commands have to be obeyed,
Where rigorous training and learning await
The poor fragile child that is about to enlist -
Who cant help but shake his fist
And groan at how time flies toward this dreadful fate,
Sigh, i hope on january 7th, i will not be late!
