Life behind a mask

After 2 history lessons in LT4, im here at free access room typing this. Me and yijun came up with this topic... which involves most of us in our current lives. Most of us are one person now and a different person at home - thus the issue of living behind a mask.

Every person has his/her unique qualities and characteristics, but only certain characters/qualities can be revealed to the social world in order for acceptance and understanding. Some of us require understanding and acceptance so much that we do stuff to gain attention and admiration. This is, an indirect case of living behind a mask. I think this term means that u become someone that ur not in order to go along with the norm. Its like wearing a mask, where u become a totally, unrecogniseable person, who behaves contrary to his true self. Such behaviour may be due to wanting to cover the bad points and not let it surface. Such doing will only intensify that feeling when he/she reaches home, where the natural characteristics kick in. Some people have a very strong sense of leadership, and want to be control/in the limelight. Perhaps their true self contains internal instability and fickleness, or they are too sensitive and perplexed by the slightest emotions that they feel lost and troubled at the slightest things - thus they need understanding and acceptance. Masks 'mask' identity, and thus sometimes its really hard to tell when a person is not his true self. Some people may remain under that mask forever and u can never tell it... perhaps... he remains under this mask for so long that it becomes his natural self. Thus it is rather dangerous to judge a book by its cover or wad not. Some ppl also behave differently in groups, as they get hyper and want to show off, mostly in the case of gangs, which is why gangfights are so common in modern day life. Group behaviour instigates rebellious feelings and to prove oneself, one will go against his values to follow the norm. Another indirect way of living behind a mask.

A person's true self is really unfathomable. It may be so well hidden, yet sensitive people who are sharp enough can see that hidden personality revealing itself through hidden meaning. A group attention seeker can really be different in real person. People arent what they seem in groups, and some people arent what they seem in real person... confusing :S Ever heard the saying 'ur whole life is a lie' - some people live that kinda life, and they are constantly lying to themselves of their true self. Some people behave rowdily and act eccentric, but in real life they are actually very nice and caring. I have few such friends in Tchs, and yea, u must really noe a person in order to get under that mask. This comes to the point of appreciation of special uniqueness in a person. People should just be what they are and not live a mirrored life. As such, the image will be distorted and they will have split personalities, which is very confounding and can lead to depression/ feeling lost. Such people dont know where to start, dont know where to be left off, dont know where they stand, thus they need constant understanding and acceptance to feel secure. Different people have different likings/wants, and some just like feeling wanted and admired. hmm im sure theres more to life behind a mask, but so far this is all i can think of... til i expound more on it, next post :P

Today ends quite early, as there are twot math lessons after econs. :S sian got history remedial again, but yet i should be quite positive as its gonna be a ball of a time :D anywayz, til the next half of school, tata
